Hello there~! A random update for you.

Huge credits to The Vorthos Cast, a really splendid MTG Lore/Vorthos podcast, for this idea. Got it from one of their #MTGDOM related pod casts.

How funny that even tho I hate Liliana for her angel hate, most of the time the ideas for the strips I can get more from her. :P Also, I had reason to draw Gideon again~ This time in a get up inspired by that most recent Chandra Nalaar manga released back.

On the technical side, talk about quite the birthing pains for this strip to be done. I dove into using a new software (Clip Studio) to render this strip months back and that totally made the finishing longer. I needed to do so because my old rig crashes when working on a huge canvass, and some slowdowns here and there.

Altho there are several similarities with SAI that I used before, I needed to learn a huge chunk of Clip Studio and it took some time before I can effortlessly do a digital piece smoothly and without much hassle.

Now with this new software I hope I can do better in doing the strips. ^^;;

Hello again~! A month late from my supposed target date last outing.. but hey, better than updating again after 3 years. ;P

Remember last year when most of the Magic world got shookt when a certain old lady appeared on some of those Dominaria peeks? After the hype of the reveal died down a couple of Vorthosi began theorizing regarding Jaya’s fate. At the back of my mind I immediately thought that she’s a goner after she was revealed, but later on I started hoping that in the end Jaya will have a sort of Toph-like treatment when she returned in the later season of Legend of Korra.

But while I was doing this comic, a couple of art reveals have started to pop out and a couple of Vorthosi have started to theorize strongly that within the Dominaria expansion (or later), Jaya is definitely going to die. Talk about a coincidence in some way.

Still as of this post, Jaya’s fate is still up in the air. Here’s hoping for the best for her… my mind is bringing back Time Spiral teas (Freyalise’s death still makes me giggle the bad way…).

Why hello~ And yes, I am somewhat back. Talk about a gap... let's say this is my Origins Retcon. ;P

You might’ve seen this same idea from artist Kaigetsudo and his collaboration with a Magic: The Gathering content creator (that I forgot who…). By the time that that appeared I have been with this piece for months. I actually responded to his Twitter about it, bemoaning my slowness. XD I feel like a dunce relaying that to him haha…

After three years of unforeseen personal and artistic struggles (I finally was able to let my perfectionist go a notch lower), health related issues (suffered ahypertensive emergency last 2015, been vigilant AND paranoid since then healthwise), technical problems (more below), MOBA addiction and existentialistquestions about why am I still a fan of Magic even though majority of the time it shits on the things I like or liked about it, I still wanted to do this. Maybe not for the same reasons when I started this the first time, but this time it’s more on not wanting to not let any possible Magic related ideas fade into my own… as sucky as they may, why not just share it no?

This sort of “comeback” was actually about to be done around the same time last year, the line art was about 70-80% underway, but the Universe for some reason decided to kick the rig that I’m using to oblivion, leaving me without PC access for 4-5 months (I can only do this comic with a PC/Laptop..).

“But nobody asked for this~” some random baiter might pop in the back. But dear sir, I didn’t ask for your opinion… so cool your fanny down. ;3

So anyway, this was posted on the supposed "new home" of the comic over at vorthosian-inquisition.tumblr.com a few days before. I was thinking of doing double updates from here on, over here on the Blogspot page and over at Tumblr.

Anywho, see you next month or two~ (Yep, the sporadical nature of the updates still will not change. Just to be sure. XD But I’m gonna try my best triple time this time to stick with the monthly thing.)

Also, I have never been good in writing… If you have any strip ideas feel free to send them my way. The idea must be fully detailed (e.g. script, links to references of the character you’ll be using) and it would be nice if it could stand 3-4 months without being downplayed by any Magic: The Gathering lore developments. :D Also, you’ll be fully credited with the work and I won’t use it in anyway for profit if I end up doing it… :P

An idea made by MORT when he was still hella active in the continuity and in the brainstorming think thank of this webcomic from quite a while ago. I dugged it up while looking for an idea to use to tide over the original strip I was working on (which I think would demand more time than the usual, PANELS MAN!).

This sudden update is HEAVILY inspired by Liliana Vess's inclusion in M15.

Also, this strip heralds the return of a much drastic "F*CK QUALITY" style (that I visited back in strip #10) in terms of the aesthetic that I'm aiming for for this strip. Perfecting the line art? NOPE. Trying to make the design and colors close to the original? THROW THAT OUT THE WINDOW! In fact, Liliana and Chandra's designs here are from memory! What you guys think of it? XD

(ps. This strip might get an improved treatment down the road. But it's realization will depend when Liliana Vess gets into the core set with the same art in maybe Magic 2025! XD)

Not gonna lie my morale into making the comic as a whole has been in all time low since my last update due to so many things: real life, work, Garruk being turned into a villainous 'walker, and the retcon stick looming closely ahead over the MtG continuity as a whole. Most ideas that I think of just ends up 50% and I can't close them (note: the other two people I started this project with has been "removed" from this project for about 2 years or so now).

*sighs* But a part of me still doesn't want to let go of Magic (even after being told by a close friend to just drop MTG altogether since I don't play it anyway)... maybe because there's some semblance of optimism inside of me that just doesn't want to cease. For Angels still being featured in Magic, MtG realizing that people who love men are playing the game or the continuously dishing of good art in the game... I don't know. Let's see how this goes.

With the upcoming release of Duel Deck: Jace vs. Vraska on March 2014 there are going to be 3 Jace Beleren (the character) PW cards since October 2012's Return to Ravnica.

I know WOTC has sort of promoted Jace as their "mascot", their "Ryu" akin to Street Fighter's... but come on now. With his last appearance in Dragon's Maze's story you would think he would be given a break on appearing in the next blocks... until someone in Creative clarified that even if he's the living Guildpact he can still travel planes and shit. *le sigh* There goes that.

The only way I can remotely get behind another new appearance of him sooner would be if he's sexified and stuff :P ... for me WOTC should give other walkers more screen time.

The only take away I see from this is at least the backstory on how Jace ended up being the "versus" to Vraska is somehow better than the Sorin vs Tibalt one. :P

With the release of the Theros set came some sneak peeks for Born of the Gods and it has been revealed that Ajani will be joining the block. There also came the Uncharted Realms article that explains what happened with Elspeth in the closing of the New Phyrexia set.

Other than having another retcon it seems that instead of joining Karn, Elspeth has yet again gone on the move, albeit partly accidentally, trying to find that ever elusive thing she yearns for. Seriously, if this block ends with Elspeth not having some sort of closure with her issues and she planeswalks away again to another place and stars over with her soul searching I do not even know.

Jeremy Jarvis' tenure in Magic's Art Direction is something that Vorthoses have lauded for quite a while now. (Heck, I love him so much for his art direction work if I had the right reproductive organs, I'd like to have his babies! /exaggeration) After he got the position at Magic the card arts sets have been oozing with quality (and they have finally realized that gay/women Magic enthusiasts actually exists within the Magic fan community. YAY)

But then again, to say that Magic's recent art direction are always 100% amazing and on point would be quite a delusion. One example for this is Chandra's progression to what she is now. When that M12 art popped out I was sort of surprised, but M14's art was made and I felt like head-desk-ing (funny, this is comic #14). Thankfully though there is such a thing as Planeswalker arts being cropped, hence you sort of forget how awkward the overall idea for the piece is.

Here's hoping something changes on Chandra's next new art or something. And what's with her being turned into some Victoria's Secret these days in promo art, what gives? Her footwear suddenly gets heels?! What sorcery!?....).

P.S. It's the comic's 3rd Year Anniversary. Talk about an uneventful celebration no? Hmmn, I'm having a feeling of wanting to change and jazz up the design of the comic's home.... when ideas for it trickles in I guess. :P

This is my rather overdue thoughts to the announcement and revelation of those "Slivers" in M14 (so many ideas that didn't just materialize fully). And yet again, the "Human Excuse" has been used on this one... as if the players aren't human already themselves.

First, the Planeswalkers have been turned "more human" for relatability. Then the Slivers are made humanoid as "to instill more fear". Like I do not even know what they're going to turn humanoid the next. Um, well they did do food afterall with Fruitcake Elemental. More than proud of this comic since I was able to do it in less than a week! ( Thinking about making the strip look polished seriously slows me down and stuff. ) So here's hoping it is not the last! Well, unless I run out of ideas and stuff... that's another bummer altogether.

By now the fail of a card of Emmara Tandris has began the path of beating the so called dead horse, might as well impart my contribution to this unfortunate incident once and for all.

But seriously, the attempt of many to sugar coat the FAIL that the card emmanates is beyond fun. There have been players who have went to the path of Chris Crocker shouting "Leave MaRo alone!" in retort. There are some who argue that the card of Emmara reminds them of the legends back in the Legends set ( I mean really, of all the times to bring that back to an established character and all? )

Nevertheless, I share the sentiment of the often ill-noticed Vorthos fanbase and all the players who care for Flavor on wishing that this would be the last Legend disconnect Magic:The Gathering will ever have. Pfft, talk about missing your target release month. :P Yay Work + Bad Time Management + Stuff I won't go winding on because it will bore you~!.

Anywho, Yeva is like one of my most favorite off M13's legend-with-an-underling series (most of them are flawless anyway... don't let me go with Odric, that fella is SEXEH).

This <strike>cheesy</strike> idea came upon during one of those random down times, overthinking stuff here and there about card flavor and how abilities relate to the character and stuff... "How the heck can she summon creatures anyway? Her art doesn't say much..." hence the crack theory of her being some kind of a Pokemon trainer. :P (My latent fandom for Pokemon didn't help here...)

And if you're wondering who that character is with Yeva, that you guys is going to be a recurring character here in the comics: Darmon Krewal, he's going to fill in the shoes of a "fall walker" when needed. I remember MaRo going on about that Jace Beleren was the poster guy for Magic at the moment because he "represents" the player base quite well. Blue and Wearing Hoodies? WELL COME ON DOWN~!

Now, striving through the quicksand again for a last release for this year. Garruk bless meh~ See ya around~!

Never really been like a HUEG fan of Jace Beleren, whenever he's announced for a Magic product I react the same way when Ryu is announced for an upcoming Street Fighter related game: Roll my eyes and sigh. I've never really been the type of person to like characters that a company uses as it's "Mascot" <strike>or maybe because he exposes less man-skin unlike Garruk?</strike>

Anywayz, trying out a work process that is pretty much anchored within the scope of "F*CK QUALITY" and tried this with a 1 panel entry, so far I am pleased with the result. Now look, I don't know much about the Storyline,
but imagine us handling the game itself somewhat
like this: we would shift Magic cards visually every
time we could, to the point you could not recognize
them: the elements of the cards' faces, like sizes,
colors, fonts, and the textures of the borders -
so things we strictly avoid in reality...
We wouldn't playtest new sets, not willing to invest
money in this area, and we would print loads of
broken cards, that wouldn't be banned after release.
There would be basically one type of the winning deck
on all tournaments, and players would win games by
sheer luck, never by skill.

Obviously, we would still expect you to buy it.
What did you think?!

Welcome to the first instalment of the Axe Wizards, where the questions are answered!

The idea behind it is to have Wizards' staff and employees answer some of more interesting questions people already axed, or might axe them, without any limits, including those of disclosure agreements. ;)

As you see, we're still experimenting with different forms of the strips.

DISCLAIMER: Possibly, some of the statements in the Axe Wizards are not held by people depicted there. Possibly... ;)

The idea isn't new, and originally came from a scarce and then dwindling interaction between the Creative Team & authors, and the community. Surprisingly though, recently there is an opposite trend and the interaction increased a lot. Just to mention the return of the Ask Wizards, tweeter accounts, tumblrs, forum activities, PAX meetings, etc., giving us a lot of valuable information.

But something I've read recently in one of those places (quoted below), reminded me of the whole idea for questions and answers, and of its original piece from few years back - which I hope you'll see here someday as well. But for now, there was something that required immediate attention [for a given value of immediate ;)]:

mandramas asked: Are the Magic's Vorthos receding in the last years? I mean, no more books, no more comics, no Savor the flavor... Is the new magic comic selling well?

"There are plenty of Vorthoses. They just haven’t proven that they want to buy story related noncard items."
- Mark Rosewater

Right below, there was a long wall of text I've just deleted. No one would read it... I decided to shorten it into few main points. Just let me free my hands from a double facepalm...

1) First off: us, not giving you our money, for your low quality product, is now our fault?! Wow - that's what they call aggressive marketing these days?! These eluding words won't hide you, as a company, from responsibility for your product. Remember: if we don't buy it - if anyone's, it is your fault.

2) There are different kinds of Vorthoses. The small Vorthos subgroup, strongly tied to the Storyline, has actually proven they care, and many, if not most of them, bought every book you've released - even the crappy ones, despite knowing they weren't worth their money. I'm speaking here for myself as well. But if anyone has to really prove anything here - it's you.

3) Among Vorthoses, I dare to say, most people simply do not feel the need to read books and stories. Philosophy of colors, and a laconic idea of the world behind the sets is sufficient for them; and then, there is the flavor and amazing art in the cards themselves to follow. They don't really need more. If you want them to buy books and comics, it is you who have to prove it's worth their money - you need to invest both in the good quality of the story, and the promotion. Time and time again, you failed at it.

4) Consistency of the Continuity is one of the crucial elements of quality. Imagine that A Song of Ice and Fire Saga unreasonably retconned deaths of some characters, ignored crucial events, randomly changed the timeline, personalities of the heroes, and rules governing the world and its magic - who would read that? Sure, every continuity has plot holes, goofs, and some unplanned retcons. And it is at least twice as difficult to avoid them in a shared universe, with plenty of authors and ever-growing material. It's a fact, but it's not an excuse. But the worst thing is, that beside of these typical errors, we've seen horrible mistakes like designed retcons, that didn't have a chance to work, and practically complete lack of control over the printed material. So, if you can't find a way to fix it and keep it at high quality - it's again your fault.

5) However - as unhappy I am, because of the absence of the books, and diverse storyline and flavor material - I do agree with the final decision made. If you can't handle it - don't do it, unless you find a solution. But don't blame it on your customers. It's getting you nowhere.

The plan with Axe Wizards is to alternately release it with a full comic strip... but that will still depend on the work needed to be done for a comic strip. So yeah... do tell us what you think of it or something. Any comments or opinions are welcome.

Was quite devastated with that announcement that it drove me to tears and I immediately grabbed a chocolate bar to alleviate any sad feelings that may develop into more deeper matters.

At that point I felt as if all my time devoted on being a Vorthos was just a big joke and waste. In the end of the day the Vorthos side of Magic is always going to be the bitch of the Card Game side, I guess I was just too stubborn on accepting this fact. Adding more insult to the injury was the announcement days later that the Savor of the Flavor column over at Daily MTG was put into HIATUS. Talk about a heart-wrenching chain of events.

Instead of moping around and being depressed about it I decided to channel my sadness into a comic strip (pretty much shelving the one I'm already working on, which will still see the light of day btw). I was brainstorming of making a straightforward strip to show my disdain over the stuffs that is happening to the Vorthos side of things, something like Brady being stabbed by Vorthos or being tentacle raped by an Eldrazi. But after calming down a bit I thought that that approach would be a bit Uncreative, so I took a more classier road and went with a more metaphorical approach. I hope you understand the story behind this strip, I think it's pretty easy to get. (Thanks to MORT btw for the title of the strip, such clever ideas!)

I know the follow up to #008 has been quite long, however doing #009 made me learn a couple of things, specially with the proper mentality to be in while doing these strips. All we knew back then, was that Scars of Mirrodin will be the first set of a new block, and then the appearance of a new Duel deck only made it more likely that Elspeth will set her foot on Mirrodin for some reason.

Of course, my intention was to rip on Elspeth's failure to find an utopian home and present my take on what was supposed to be the role of the Mirari in the new story. But, is that just me, or the strip screams freaking retcons! now? Everything seems to, recently...

[Now, I know Karn would finally fix the Mirari (Right?), but I liked the idea too much. And who cares about canon these days, anyway? Right?]

As for Mirari again, what really happened to it? Where is it? Who has it? Or, who is it now? I'd bet Glissa, or some of the Praetors got it. That, or it was turned into another Phyrexian creature. It could be nice to see its interaction with Tezzeret if it still granted wishes, although not exactly along intentions of its owner >:)

I have no idea, and it's equally possible that it was destroyed or just didn't take any role in this story, but I still haven't read the Quest for Karn novel, so please, avoid any spoilers in the comments. I'm allergic to spoilers. And I think I'm getting that book soon.

As for the title, well, I just love this version of the song. Basically, because its harmonics show the singer's real perception of song's - otherwise hopeful - message.

And the world will live as one. ^^

Oh, and wasn't that our second anniversary last month? Boy, the time runs fast.
So, as promised before - after reading the Quest for Karn I'll appear on the forums again for some time, to comment the book, discuss in new threads, and finish some affairs (I'm preparing a little surprise too). But after that, I'm gonna have my first, real, looooong break from Magic. I'm simply not happy with it anymore. Maybe things will change for better after few years? Retconning is seen as an accepted way when applied in few doses but using the Western Comics for defense? Well, thanks for making me worry less seeing that the current Creative has enough trouble on making the current continuity less shaky. And don't get me started on that ticking time bomb called "Clockworking", I'm glad that majority of avid storyline followers and starters opposed it but I still have doubts planted on my head about that. Few more words about the origin of the part #005.

Some time ago, following fresh spoilers of the Zendikar block novel, we had a chance to see a new face of mortal Planeswalkers. And it was weird to see that. I mean, Nissa is an elf, yet she’s so afraid of snakes? But Sorin’s case is much much worse. He’s a freaking vampire! Sophisticated, hedonistic, educated, millennia old, experienced vampire neowalker! Yet, in the novel he was knocked out easily every few minutes, and was scared of heights! A VAMPIRE?! Really... That’s just wrong :/

We instantly agreed we need to use that in some strip, and seconds later Moppi come up with the script.

That would be all about the origin of the idea, but I think one more matter needs to be touched. Yes, that cloths hanger on the vampire’s back Moppi decided to include. Some of you may recognize it from the MTGSalvation forum. But let’s start from the beginning.

One of the Doug Beyer’s feature articles mentioned that Eldrazi enslaved the vampires of Zendikar and then changed them in some ways. One of those changes were pointy horns growing up from their shoulders, which seemed to be pretty cool concept. Up until the release of the Teeth of Akoum novel though, we had no idea what they were for – the description was vague enough to theorize. I thought about many things. Maybe that’s the way Eldrazi feed on vampires, maybe they were just modified that way to be more scary, or maybe it’s just a sign of ownership and control over their race, and so on. Having no idea, and some spare time, I photoshopped this image, as a sign of hope. “Whatever it is, at least it can’t be that stupid”, I thought. Apparently, I was wrong. The hooks were used by vampires to bind and drag stones and rocks, to build structures for Eldrazi. That was simply as underwhelming and anti-climatic to me as it only could be.

Yes! And now, Eldrazi, with this new vampire-hangers, you can fit twice as many vampires in your closet!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-60610391349086455.post-28520150276401201172009-12-09T12:42:00.000-08:002009-12-09T12:53:47.837-08:00#004 (LBZ - #001)

Epilogue:

Yeah. That's what happens when weird ideas get into my mind... But first things first.

Do you remember when the price of Agents of Artifice was announced? I don't care it's a hardcover and how much it was discharged later on. 25 bucks was a ridiculous price to begin with. I remember many people expressing what they think of it...

Especially Eid's comment caught my attention. A scene in a store, with $25 AoA, next to George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones... for $8! (Which one would You choose, btw? Go back and take a closer look at them again).
Anyway, Brady Dommermuth was proud of that. Good for him.

But don't get me wrong. I've heard Ari Marmell (aka Mouseferatu) did a great job with this novel. Many storyline fans claim it's the best Magic book in years! Many years! What can I say? I wish him well, and hope we'll get more Magic fiction from him in the near future... for a reasonable price.

Speaking of which. Now, after NINE MONTHS of waiting, AoA is finally back in a soft cover and for a standard price of $8. Sounds better?

Interlude:

Ant WTF r LOLBEEBLZ?

I've been thinking of using these ridiculous Magic creatures almost since the beginning of Vorthosian Inquisition project. A number of ideas for the comics included them, and I shared them with Moppi on his hidden forum (not yet the new, official one). In our discussions, Moppi used so many abbreviations, like LOLZ, ROTFLZ, and others, that my mind happened upon an idea of adapting LOLCATS to Magic. I only needed some weird little creatures instead of cats. The choice was a gut reaction.

In other words:

Afterwords:

Some enraged people might ask, why two parts, and why such mystery? Let me explain.

<From the text above the demotivator, you already know why Eid (and Brady Dommermuth :-P... if he saw the strip #004 of course) knew what the whole thing is going to be about.>

It all began with my original sketch, made of these two parts, one next to the other. I thought they composed well that way, but since LOLCATS are always just one picture, I wanted to stay in this tradition, and decided to release the first part as a somewhat mysterious prologue - the idea for this experiment was born.

The lack of any description under the strip #004 (beside of invitation for seeing you today), and the feeling that something is missing (no frame? no title? what's that strip about, anyway?), was meant to lead you into conclusion that it's not the end of the 'story', and to speculate on what would happen next...

However angry you might be at me now for this little experiment, I thought it would be interesting to see your interpretations, and some really good ones were delivered (opressed men of medieval Europe - priceless! Just priceless, luminum can - and how close! XD ).

I thought more people would know about A Game of Thrones though (or at least, say that on forums/comments). So if you didn't know of it till now, and you love to read fantasy stories, you might really want to consider putting your hands on this piece of fiction. It stood next to AoA, but not as shiny, for a reason too. Now, it's not my intention to advertise anything here. I want to point out that cover is not everything, and we should always keep in mind quality/price correlation, and personally, I wouldn't give $25 for ANY hardcover Magic novel so far. There are some limits you know...

Last few words, if you're still with me. A good eye will spot that Martin's $8 AGoT is actually a soft-cover, unlike in our comic. Well, that's my fault - my initial sketch was made when I didn't really think of the details yet, and later I totally forgot to point it out, before Moppi finished the strip.

That's all for today. See you next century ;-)

There is a pink version too. Which one is better? :D
Might need resize to fit it into the VInq.

Goodness, look at the gap between the months of this release from the last!. If you are still there, thank you very much for holding on haha. The release of this might've come off more early but due to sleep time probably hindering me from waking up hours before 12 pm (UTC+8) i decided to post this now. If the first three comics were introductions of the ideas from each of us the upcoming comics would feature different kind of formats that you could expect seeing here. First we get the normal type of comic like that of the first 3 releases and then there's this 2nd type: the LOLBEEBLZ. I think i do not need to explain that part as MORT has covered that already.

Other than my father being here until around mid-November i have been soul-searching on the direction of what the comic has become. Looking at the past entries i think i have veered too much from my first goal: to have the webcomic in a more western cartoon style. I think i have injected too much of my anime roots and have been critical on stuff that i should not be in the first place. So with this two-parter of sorts is the beginning of this "new art direction", i hope you don't find it bothersome.

You might say that the only visible difference is that i removed the shadows... actually you have a point there but while i was soul-searching i came to the conclusion that it's one of the factors that are hampering the speed of a release. The lost of shadows in the future comics isn't really for-life but more of it being added when it's totally needed. (i.e. night scenes, light explosions etc...)

So there, THANK YOU again for staying with us. I'm actually excited for the next comic as i've been spending quite some time brainstorming for it. It may not be too lengthy but i'm going to do my best on the visuals. See ya around!.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-60610391349086455.post-15320818739493505532009-12-07T11:44:00.000-08:002009-12-07T19:32:05.611-08:00004

Come back on 12 pm Thursday (UTC+8). No, not 3 months from now. 12 pm Thursday (UTC+8).

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-60610391349086455.post-49536105881334530192009-09-15T12:12:00.000-07:002016-06-05T06:16:34.754-07:00003

Well, told you guys the wait would be LONG.

Wait a sec, you still there? *knocks*

Anyway my father is now mostly out of the house so i was able to finish this 3rd comic. I wasn't able to devote much of my time in this on his first month stay coz most of the time he's around. I apologize if it took so long, rest assured that we're still on this. :P

More on the comic, the idea for this installment was influenced by comments made by Eid and Wizards' Forum Veteran WereFrog about the pace of the character developments of the Neowalkers. And why Novel Limbo?, i remember chancing upon this Catholic Preacher on TV mentioning that if a person ends up in the Purgatory (or Limbo) prayers from his/her loved ones would help him/her elevate to Heaven and i can't help but associate that to the non-Lorwyn neowalkers that are now appearing every set. It seems that the only thing the newly gathered fans of the non-Lorwyn neowalkers can do about the chance of them appearing with their own novels is via praying that they'd end up having one.

You might also notice that the neowalkers potrayed here are suited with casual wear, i decided that since they're going to be put in the "real" world why not put them in "real" world clothes? (Other than the fact that their designs are sooo complicated). I think you can pretty much guess the decision for Chandra in this (CLICK HERE if you can't guess). Garruks' was inspired by a certain wrestler that goes by the name using three repeated letters. Lilianas' i came up via watching the anime Full Metal Alchemist. Nissas' casual wear was conceptualized after reading some newly released information about her.

Artwise i'm still on an experimenting stage and after these "Initial 3" releases the next release might have a different visual style.

Lastly i also created a FORUM for Vorthosian Inquisition which you can access on the NAVIGATION portion. If you have ideas that you would like to share and detailed comments about things about the comics you might want to post it there (although i read the comments area of every release post anyway), i'll be lurking around those parts and will be entertaining further discussions and questions if they occur. Hope you enjoyed this release and hopefully the next one won't be that long of a wait. :(

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-60610391349086455.post-38685195542857631582009-07-20T11:04:00.000-07:002016-06-05T06:16:07.811-07:00002

Shared world is something really hard to keep track of. Different authors may have different views on planeswalkers, mana, summoning, rules of the Multiverse, and it is obvious they won't read ~60 Magic books, all comics and online sources before writting their own novel... I can understand that. But seriously, some major events are commonly known, and there should be an editor to find any inaccuracies concerning them. Either there was noone in control with established plan for the storyline and J. R. King couldn't be stopped from resurrecting his beloved villain in the Scourge novel, or they did allow Yawgmoth to come back. Who knows...

Frankly though, I was quite excited that Yawgmoth was back *gets smacked by majority of vorthos-kind*. Sure, they killed him at the end of the Apocalypse novel and bringing back dead characters is something what should be avoided in general, but it's Y@wgmoth! He was basicly Magic's personification of Death... besides, what (real) Christian wouldn't be happy if Jesus was coming back. :P So despite loosing a bet in the second panel, I was ok with it.

But it seems that the (next?) Creative Team came up with some different view on the matter, and rather than leave it as it was, or ignore it, they tried "their best" to change it again... eh. Usually, many retcons of one subject do not have much sense, if any. And obviously, people running this buissness didn't read all Magic sources either, so they couldn't predict all after-effects of their statements, so confusions upon confusions arose.

As stated before it's not easy to keep the track of all aspects of Magic's complicated Storyline, so the sad conclusion is that the number of mistakes and silly retcons will be probably rising exponentially with every next Dominarian set.

I hope I'm wrong...

(Oh wait, they practically nuked the whole plane again, so maybe I'm really wrong).

One more thing, the Time Spiral novel we're reading up there with Eid, is more like a symbol of the entire TS trilogy. Yes, it had that major retcons we're addressing to in the comic (that Teferi and Jhoira had never phased out with Shiv, and that Teferi saw Karona in the rift for a first time in his life), but Planar Chaos also tried to convince us, via Lord Windgrace's "certainty" that Yawgmoth is dead. Not to mention the Urborg card.

That's all for today. I hope you enjoyed it. I guess you can't send me a hatemail yet, because we didn't establish any e-mail address for the comic matters, but you can always leave a comment here. And yes, you guessed it right.
